About This Site And John NOBEL

(Last updated: May 2021)

This NOBEL Family of (New) Holland site was put together with a lot of help from family (especially in Europe and Australia), friends, acquaintances, many interested parties/ experienced and gifted amateur sleuths, and professionals (including at [oops,] sites, libraries, archives ...).
Thank you all, it feels like standing on the shoulders of giants, and all that, and this continues to be quite the puzzle!

The key pages on this site are the Family History Research So Far, Family Name And Crest, Dutch Slant On Power And Influence (more), Other Family And History Links, and Assorted Links (more), besides this one.
Please note, providing a link to a site does not mean [I] agree with the contents, just think of it as perhaps fit for use, may be purpose.

A summary (uploaded genealogical data file format) is available on Geneanet.org.

Both - checking into Trove - Archive.Today, Archive.org, Archive.is have older versions of this site (2007, 2005 (and pre-2004 FAL/ classic Compu$erve through Wayback)).
(I mainly use (gmxgroup.net and) nobelj.net, and discarded nqnn.net and jnobel.net some time ago.)

Over time it has relocated to Google's Blogger, after being on various web hosts (generally by using SeaMonkey/ Netscape/ Apple/ SGI, even Frontpage Express/ Microsoft/ Toshiba/ IBM [if not Query/ IDDU or RPG …]).
This most recent iteration has essentially been done by taking the content and moving it across, without a lot of updates/ changes, on to this platform.

In a way, web tone after dial tone, I started this site pre-WWW/ W3 (let alone always on Internet), when Gopher, FAL/ Compu$erve (100033,1141), Kermit, Fidonet (over the public switched telephone network, dial-up) were in use a lot (even Multiplan and MSX and MicroPro suite and CP/M on floppies, Tasword on microdrives and cassette tapes and ZX Spectrum), and Basicode (over radio).
If not punchcards on school-‘accessible’ systems.
Even CLDS microfiches.

Where can you find me in virtual or real life?
Well, about is this (John NOBEL's) page for the nfonh.nobelj.net, for contact just comment (Google Blogger moderation is enabled) or message through Wickr or Twitter or Telegram or Signal or Facebook, use encrypted GPG email (more, in-depth nasties defences are enabled), email , fax/ call +31 84 874 2460 or +1 (702) 924 9495, Zoom or FaceTime or Chime (more) ...
